I would really love to get a quick explanation about the difference between tags and segments.

The Tags feature is what you are using for segmenting in Pushwoosh. There are some default Tags, which values are collected automatically by the SDK (i.e. Language, Country, City, etc.), and you can create your own custom ones and let users subscribe for them. After that, to target the specific segment of your userbase, you should set up a filter based on the specific Tag(s).
