Hi there

we would like to use Pushwoosh to enable individual messaging between users at events. For this to work we were planning for up to 1000 users to register a unique login id (their session token) as a tag in the Pushwoosh backend so the we can use the API to target the users who want to message each other. Is there a limitation on how many devices can set tags? If so, is there another way to do this?

Cheers Rob

There's no limitation on the number of devices that can set a tag, so you are perfectly safe to do it :)

Hi Alexander

But can they all be different tag values? For example: their user ID?

Can you send an example code snippet showing the settags call setting a unique value ?

Cheers Rob

Hi Rob,

Yes, you can set as many tag values as needed, and using it for identifying your users is the exact purpose of Tags. The setTags POST request you send from the device should look as follows:

 {
   "request":{
      "application":"YOUR_PUSHWOOSH_APPLICATION_CODE",
      "hwid": "device hardware id", // hardware device id used in registerDevice function call
      "tags": {"userID": "id1234567890"}
             }
 }
